Inspiration & motivation

When I first started my trading activities on eToro, I was highly motivated. I tried a lot of different trading setups, like in my natural gas experiment or my first strict copper trading strategy. I even developed my own backtesting tool and started this blog to share my experience and findings with you. Despite these efforts and the amount of time I invested, success wouldn't come. I came to a point where I asked myself "is it worth it"? Time is for sure the most valuable thing in life, so spending it for trading without making profit appeared like wasting time. That's probably the point when many people give up.

This kind of mindset kept me going. Giving up on my dream of becoming a successful trader simply didn't feel right. I already spend a lot of time - if I would give up, this time would have been wasted indeed. But if I move on and continue to learn from my mistakes, it is simply a part of my total investment. 

Many traders describe their humble start into trading. Some of them needed many years until they became successful. The key is to never give up on your goal. Or, as Sylvester Stallone said in his movie "Rocky Balboa":

The context was different, but it I think it perfectly fits to trading. Giving up when times are tough will not get you anywhere you want. It is important to follow your heart and keep moving. You can find the complete motivational speech of Rocky to his son on youtube.

So staying motivated in difficult times or markets is as important for a trader than knowledge about candle sticks and indicators. Therefore I decided to establish a section on my blog that covers this aspect: "inspiration and motivation". I started publishing quotes that inspire and motivate me every Monday - my #MondayQuotes.
