Getting out of sync @CopyTrading pt. 2 - 13.01.2017

A few weeks ago I realized for the first time that I was not properly synchronized with the traders in my CopyTrading portfolio (click here to read the corresponding post). With what I have learned from this analysis I carefully chose a new line up of traders for my portfolio (click here to read about the rearranging). After five weeks of copying this new line up, I checked whether my portfolio is properly synchronized - unfortunately it is not.


As in the former post I compared the performance of the traders in my portfolio with the values taken from the eToro chart. I started to copy all traders on a weekday, since stopping and starting only works properly when the markets are open. Therefore I used the weekend values in calendar week 50 as a starting point for my comparison. The following table show the performance of a trader in my portfolio, in the eToro chart ("1 year ago") and the ratio of my portfolio to the eToro chart.



@berrau and @smartandsocial are looking quite well, with a nearly 100% synchronization. For others like @Jarodd76 and @TradeBetter the portfolios diverge heavily, as you can also see on the two charts below. While @TradeBetter seems to have a proportional offset, the chart for @Jarodd76 looks pretty wild.

Conclusion

The conclusion is similar to the last post about this topic. There are several aspects that I cannot really influence as copier:

• The trader is adding or removing funds to his account. For popular investors this could also be the monthly payment, spread rebates or in general credits for example for an invited friend. Since a few weeks eToro notifies when a trader adds funds and includes the amount of money the copier needs to add to stay synchronized. 
• The amount invested in the CopyTrade is too small and not all trades are copied. In order to avoid that I checked on the recommended minimum amount for copying.
• The trader gains some parts of  his profit by copying other traders or he invested in CopyFunds. This could result in trades that are too small to get copied. In my case the only @chocolate007 has invested a small amount in a CopyFund. All other traders in my portfolio only trade manually.

What do you do to keep properly synchronized? Do you have any further idea why the performance differs so much?
